Bank Revetment work is one of Kingcombe Aquacare's water maintenance services

Bank Revetment

Bank revetment is a generic term relating to the protection of river, canal, pond or lake edges using material that is harder than the soil of the bank, so preventing or reducing erosion. “Hard” revetments – a more robust treatment – include, steel, concrete, timber or rock. “Soft” lake edging includes coir, timber, faggots, aquatic planting and willow spiling.

Revetment can also be used to support an edge by providing a vertical face. This might be done for aesthetic reasons, to give a very architectural edge to the water, or it could be to provide deep water adjacent to the bank.

There are numerous bank revetment materials and techniques available, some of which are illustrated in the collections of photographs linked to below.

For further advice, or to discuss your particular requirements, please talk to Chris Keech on 01460 279 200.
