The following images show work in progress. The first photo shows the scrub trees felled, before the silt removal. The next one shows the silt removal in progress. The third image represents the enormous change to the landscape with the silt removed and the lake full. The last picture is included to demonstrate the scale of the project with regard to the amount of silt present! (Bear in mind that the yellow excavator is a 21 tonner!)
Our team are currently working on the second lake, removing the silt with pumps via a 1.5 kilometer pipeline. The following photo shows two machines feeding a silt skip.
